Right. The mail apparently got delayed on Ted's end, and then I
completely and utterly screwed up my time allocation this month, no
doubt about it.

Right. Ted suggested that a "monitor" action which was like status but
just with sane exit codes was likely the best solution.

So, if noone raises objections to this, that's what I'll do.
