[LinuxFailSafe] Shared SCSI Questions

Hello,

I want to set up a Linux FailSafe cluster for my company's internet/database
application (Apache/Oracle 9i) as a proof-of-concept for high-availability.
Since I have a low budget for this project, I would like to share a single
SCSI disk between two Linux nodes. I cannot afford any external RAID at
this point.

My goal is to build a two-node cluster, with a shared SCSI disk, using as
little hardware as possible.

So, my questions:

1. Is anyone running a system using a shared SCSI bus?
1a. What SCSI adapter are you using in the nodes?
1b. What other hardware are you using with regard to the shared disk?
1c. What Linux distribution are you running?

2. What are the minimum hardware requirements for sharing a SCSI disk?
2a. I assume it is: 2 SCSI adapters, cables, shared SCSI bus, SCSI disk, am
I wrong?
2b. How am I wrong?

Thanks very much in advance for any replies,
Elliott Perkins
