When I set up failsafe on redhat (6.2 and 7.2) systems, I also ran into
problems with the JRE; the one version that worked realy well for me was =
the
1.1.8 from blackdown (http://www.blackdown.com/). Neither 1.3.x nor the =
IBM
1.1.8 (which is available from the failsafe FTP site) worked reliably.

Both compiling the java admin tools and running them on linux worked =
fine
with the blackdown JRE, using the java binaries (with JRE 1.1.8) on a =
windows
PC also works without a hitch.
