Really appreciate your fix. I have tested and it works for me too.
I learn't that my Ubuntu 6.06 servers do not have this problem and they
link "/bin/bash" by "/bin/sh". It is the new version of Ubuntu which are
distributed with "/bin/dash" linked by "/bin/sh". Ubuntu's decision to
go with this change has a long running bug/blog entry at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dash/+bug/61463.
