[Linux-HA] redundant mysql slaves

Hi,
I need some advice to accomplish the following:
I have two mysql slave servers which get their data from one master.
In the CIB I have set up two IP addresses, each with a preferred node
so that under normal circumstances each slave is available under one
of the two cluster IP adresses.
If one of the two slaves fails completely, its heartbeat IP address is
being taken over by the other one. If only mysqld has a problem,
there's no failover, yet.
How can I tell heartbeat to monitor mysql for an ip address resource
without controlling mysql?
It would be great if anyone could help me. This whole heartbeat thing
is new to me.
Markus
