POSIX compliance is a pretty weak guarantee, and some of the things we
(have to) do are a bit esoteric (raw sockets).
Another thought would be to run it under CYGWIN.
By the way, I'm sure SFU has sockets now :-). But, it may not have some of
the authentication methods we use for local domain sockets.
