Maybe "msgfmt netstring" helps with the encapsulation issues on the
serial cabling?

I'm hazarding a wild wild guess here ;-)

57600 or more is what I'd recommend for 2.x w/CRM enabled; our messages
are substantially larger than r1-style clusters.
