I'd not personally invest in fixing it right now; the changes are going
to be substantial to make it all work.
Local data center clusters are probably >99% of all scenarios still.
If I wanted to build a DR solution, I think I would use something which
works with openAIS as well. (I/Novell would not add features to the
current hb layers, but if someone else wants to, they are of course free
to do so ...)
