We just provide interim as well as development builds.

That's quite clear from the package version as well as the log.

See, that's why we do put out releases in the mean time ;-) They also
have changelogs.

We can't invent our own version numbers w/o completely messing up
package installs (though the daily builds are timestamped) and _really_
confusing users.

Define "official". Do you want support from the developers or are you
running SUSE? ;-)
