Just wondering... would it not have been easier to have looked for  
occurrences of:
      "PEngine Input stored in:"
in the logs?

That would give you the transition number, the order, the full  
filename and the host it's living on.
It would also work regardless of how many tests extracttests.py was  
asked to retrieve.
