Hello,
I've been trying to get Heartbeat 2.06 & 2.0.7 to work
on Solaris 8 on Sparc. I successfully ran
'./ConfigureMe install' but upon trying to start
Heartbeat, it fails. I have HB 2.0.6 working fine on
RHEL4 and tried using a similar ha.conf and cib.xml on
the Solaris host. There are numerous error messages
in /var/log/daemonlog after I run
'/etc/init.d/heartbeat start'. I have included the
daemonlog log and other configuration files in the
attached zip file.
The prerequisites I installed before building
Heartbeat are:
binutils-2.17.tar.gz
bzip2-1.0.3.tar.gz
e2fsprogs-libs-1.39.tar.gz
gcc_small-3.4.2-sol8-sparc-local.tar.gz from
www.sunfreeware.com
glib-2.12.1.tar.gz
gnutls-1.4.1.tar.gz
libgcrypt-1.2.2.tar.gz
libgpg-error-1.3.tar.gz
libiconv-1.9.2-sol8-sparc-local.gz from
www.sunfreeware.com
libnet.1.1.2.1.tar.gz
libtasn1-0.3.5.tar.gz
make-3.81.tar.gz
ncurses-5.5.tar.gz
net-snmp-5.3.1.tar.gz
opencdk-0.5.9.tar.gz
pkg-config-0.20.tar.gz
Python-2.4.3.tar.gz
swig-1.3.29.tar.gz
There are other problems I encountered on Solaris:
o Even though I installed the latest ncurses (v5.5)
from source, the ConfigureMe script still complained
with "WARNING: The printw() function of your ncurses
or curses library is old, we will disable usage of the
library."
o '/etc/init.d/heartbeat stop' has no effect. None of
the HB related processes get killed. I ran 'heartbeat
-k' manually but it does nothing.
o I edited
'/opt/LXHAhb/lib/heartbeat/BasicSanityCheck' to set
TESTIP as the intended virtual IP address (as given in
my ha.cf) and ran it. The host freezes up (even at
console) when it does a 'Reloading heartbeat' a second
time:
bash-2.03# /opt/LXHAhb/lib/heartbeat/BasicSanityCheck
Using interface: hme0

Does not look like we did a restart exec.
Reloading heartbeat
o I had to edit the last line of
/opt/LXHAhb/lib/heartbeat/haresources2cib.py to have
"hacluster:haclient" instead of "hacluster.haclient".
The script works fine on RHEL4 but on Solaris the
chown command (issued by the Python script) will not
accept "." as the delimiter between the user and
group.
Is there anything that I may have done wrong? Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
