Accoring to the configure script

--enable-snmp-subagent Compile the snmp-subagent. This is still in
the
                          development stage.  default=no

Im not sure the this is the cause of my issues

>>> Laurence.Moughan at aerlingus.com 20/09/04 15:50:03 >>>
Alos

configure:40841: result: Build snmp subagent = no

Build still fails

For info i DID build my 122 on this very same box

>>> Laurence.Moughan at aerlingus.com 20/09/04 15:45:48 >>>
na

a configure --disable-snmp-subagent

then make still give me reams and reams of

<unknown>                           0x2960
/usr/local/lib/libnetsnmp.a(snmp_api.o)
<unknown>                           0x2964
/usr/local/lib/libnetsnmp.a(snmp_api.o)
<unknown>                           0x296c
/usr/local/lib/libnetsnmp.a(snmp_api.o)
<unknown>                           0x2994
/usr/local/lib/libnetsnmp.a(snmp_api.o)
<unknown>                           0x29a0
/usr/local/lib/libnetsnmp.a(snmp_api.o)
<unknown>                           0x29a4
/usr/local/lib/libnetsnmp.a(snmp_api.o)

and then fails,

however in my config.log i have

SNMP_SUBAGENT_ENABLED='0'

this zero is a no i assume !

so please advise next !

Maybe they

that helps.

That sounds likely. Mention of "/usr/local/<path>/<something>" in a
Solaris environment generally means that <something> is user-installed
(as
distinct from Solaris/Sun-supplied software).

A quick check on my binaries, using ldd, shows no trace of "snmp"
libraries. Likewise, our locally maintained "/usr/local/lib" seem not
to
have anything snmp-ish in there.

>From heartbeat, my "config.log" also shows "Build snmp subagent =
no".

Laurence: check your "config.log". My guess is that it would show:
   Build snmp subagent = yes

A quick, amateur, glance at "configure.in" suggests that Alan's
suggestion
would be fruitful, converting that "yes" to a "no". Its help
information
suggests that this SNMP functionality is still under development,
hence
potentially problematical.

To get something working for yourself, in "user mode", persuade
"configure" to generate:
   Build snmp subagent = no
and do your "make" from there.

Later on, you might want to switch to "developer mode" and look under
the
bonnet at debugging the SNMP interaction.

Hope that helps.
