I found the patch in STABLE_1_2 branch that breaks hbaping by binary searching for "working" "not-working" versions.
By reversing the patch in heartbeat.c, hbaping works fine in STABLE branch.
But I don't understand why closing those fds will break hbaping :(
Maybe you or Alain St Denis can enlighten me
