I thought my patch, which addressed ConfigureMe and bootstrap, should be
correct in this regard: bootstrap should now not do a configure (the only
calls to configure should now be from ConfigureMe).  If you believe my
patch has missed something, let me know what and where etc.

Incidentally, wearing an "end-user, non-developer" hat, I have just
applied the patch to Alan's 1.2.3 tar.gz release, and "ConfigureMe"
(patched) has correctly avoided any "bootstrap" stage.
