No, that's why it didn't work for them ;-) Then CRM_DIR wasn't
substituted to the empty string in the SUBDIRS line of the toplevel
makefile, and thus the compile failed.

So I moved the AC_SUBST(CRM_DIR) clause to above the list of makefiles
the configure step generated and all is well.

The crm/ specific Makefiles are still only generated if --enable-crm is
specified.
