No experience yet. But behind the scenes, Alan Robertson has been
encouraging Michael Moerz and myself to try to make heartbeat generally
portable, using GNU autoconf and automake. And my own environment is
Solaris (2.6, 7, 8).
Our present emphasis is on constructing this autotools skeleton, and
putting a little example flesh onto it, without breaking any current
functionality. It is also important, at this stage, that our source code
be kept as close as reasonably possible to Alan's, so that the later
migration is eased. (My Solaris compile/link trials have revealed some
places where source code re-arrangement or re-structure may be beneficial,
but we are deliberately being cautious about doing this for the moment.)
We have made good progress, and it is now almost building on Solaris. But
I have never tried to run it yet, and doubtless some more tinkering will
be needed.
So it depends on your timescales and requirements. If you want something
guaranteed working, off-the-shelf, and today, then I guess it doesn't
exist. But if your timescales are more relaxed, and you are able to
assist in the port, then you would be very welcome to contribute to the
general porting, and to the particular Solaris porting. Indeed, I would
appreciate having another Solaris person to bounce ideas off (or as a
shoulder to cry on...)
Let me know if you are interested. Michael is basically coordinating
the autotools work: in the last week or so he has produced a couple
of tarballs, and another is imminent.
