NORTHERN COLORADO HEALTH CARE REFORM ALERT

Thursday is the correct day for STORM THE CAPITOL.
There are driving directions to the pre-rally meeting place below.  Please
help us spread the word about the event.


Thursday, Jan 31, 10 AM - 1 PM, STORM THE CAPITOL!!! Denver
10 AM:  Pre-rally at Central Presbyterian Church, 1660 Sherman, a block
north of the Capitol.  Have a hot drink, share your
 health care stories for You Tube, make signs, and get materials and updates
on the Single Payer Movement.
12 noon:  Rally on the west steps of the Capitol with Sen. Bob Bacon, Rep.
John Kefalas and other Legislators and organizations who support single
payer.

Tues., Feb. 5, Political party precinct caucuses,  7 PM (check with your
county party for possible earlier times) in neighborhoods all over the
state.  You can vote for the Presidential candidate of your choice and also
introduce, discuss and vote for a single payer resolution and other
resolutions to be presented to your party's platform committee. Info:

                                             DIRECTIONS to STORM THE
CAPITOL!!!
Central Presbyterian Church, at 1660 Sherman Street (and 17th Avenue) is a
large red sandstone building.

>From Interstate 25:

Take 20th Street exit - there's a light.
Go Left (SE) onto 20th Street.  At Arapaho (about six blocks) you must turn
Right.
Go one block to 19th Street and make a Left. (If you miss 19th, go to 17th
Street and make the Left.)
After four or five blocks you'll come to Broadway.  You must turn Right onto
Broadway.
Go about three blocks to 17th Avenue.  Go Left onto 17th Avenue.
You'll go through intersection of Lincoln Street.
Next street is Sherman.
The church is on your right - can't miss it.
OR
Take Speer Exit - there's a light.
Go Left.
After you see Larimer Street, the next street is Lawrence Street. Take a
Left onto Lawrence.
Pass through intersections 14th Street, 15th Street, 16th Street Mall
Street.
Go Right onto 17th Street.
You have about eight blocks to get over into the left lane.
You'll see sign "17th Avenue Only to Left".  Follow that.
Take Left onto Sherman.  Church will be in front of you on the right.

There are parking lots/garages all over the place.



 Public Education Events around Health Care Reform
Two local series on health care reform:

Jan. 27:   4:30 - 6 PM, Namaqua Unitarian Church, 7th and Washington Ave.,
Loveland."Beyond SICKO - Options and Action for the Future."
What are the reform initiatives on the table in Colorado and before the
Congress?  What role can citizens play in creating a viable system of
comprehensive, affordable and high quality health care for all?  Dr. Cory
Carroll, a family practice physician in Ft. Collins, will present his

College America in Ft. Collins is sponsoring a free showing of the
documentary film SICKO, followed by a discussion with the college's medical
program students,

Thurs., Feb. 7, 6:30 -9:30 PM:  SICKO, followed by discussion facilitated
by Dr. Bernard Birnbaum, family practice physician and faculty at the Ft.
Collins Family Residency Program.
Ray Swanson, a local businessman and member of the College America Advisory
Board, will also join the discussion.
