The Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Care Reform

The Commission was created by the Colorado Legislature in 2006. It is
charged with making recommendations for comprehensive health care reform
with the goal of increasing health care coverage and decreasing costs for
Colorado residents, with particular emphasis on the issues of the uninsured,
underinsured, and those at risk of financial hardships due to the costs of
medical care. The Commission is required to make final recommendations for
comprehensive health care reform to the General Assembly by November 30,
2007. The Commission is soliciting proposals for health care reform and will
select three to five of the proposals submitted for further evaluation.

Purpose of the Hearings

The purpose of these hearings is to solicit citizen input on the criteria
that will guide Commissioners as they consider the proposals they receive.
The criteria are: comprehensiveness, access, coverage, affordability,
portability, benefits, quality, efficiency, consumer choice and empowerment,
wellness and prevention, and sustainability. Citizens are invited to answer
two quesions in oral or written testimony(those giving oral testimony are
asked to submit their comments in writing also):

1. What are your thoughts on the importance of any of the 11 criteria?
Please explain why any one or more of them are more or less important to
you.

2. Do you have any comments on the description of any of the criteria?
