I am currently running with m_r on, and have been for a little while,
and have seen nothing

It may be that I have fixed whatever it is "by accident" here, simply
as a result of separating the code paths. I'll get back to you when I
know more. Meanwhile, if you get a chance to apply the test I suggested
in the code, pleaae do .. there will not be another opportunity for
convergence until I begin to see an error with my current code.
