it's any of the remote_ioctls around line 5493:

      remote_ioctl->convert_inplace(&cmd);
      err = enbd_remote_ioctl(lo, cmd, arg);

if I comment out both, it works. of course, I did not test it for hours
;-)

the arguments for the calls look like this:

       lo:   dbfe5800
       &cmd: da61bec0
       cmd: -2147177686  (ENBD_REMOTE_CCHEK)
       arg: 3663838916
