There are heartbeat scripts for that kind of failover in the enbd
distribution and on the web page.
Look in the nbd/etc/ha.d subdirectory.

You want to run two of those setups, with the roles reversed between
the two, so that strauss is primary for one system, and mahler is
primary for the other.
