While struggling to get that kernel to boot, I noticed that there is a
"large block device" option (CONFIG_LBD).

There is also some mysterious thing called CONFIG_BLK_DEV_DM.

And straightforward lvm may be an alternative if you are just
aggregating drives. Not that I see lvm in the kernel source yet.
Lvm2?  No. Lvm comes with xfs, does it not?
