[ENBD] 2GB limit drives me crazy... :(

Hi! Peter,

>>[root@u575 /dev]# ls -al sdo3
>>brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 227 Apr 16 1999 sdo3
>
>Do you really have all those disks ? o is something like the fifteenth!

OK, here is how my system is set up. u575 is an nbd server that has an
internal SCSI drive and connected to an external Fibre Channel box that has
ten 36GB drives. I set up 14 logical volumes over a RAID 5 array in the FC
box. All of these logical volumes show up as SCSI devices in the system.

So /dev/sdo is my 14-th logical volume in my FC box.

>>Now it's a partition under /dev/sdo, which is a logical volume on my fibre
>>channel box. /dev/sdo3 is about 8GB. So how do I export it properly?

My glibc is of version 2.1.3-15, so I guess it's OK, too. I just don't
understand what's wrong with my system.... It's driving me crazy!!! :(

Well your effort paid off for me. I'm very appreciative.

>Are you running to localhost?

No. Other than "make test" I didn't run anything to "localhost." I use
another separate machine as the nbd-client.

All of my machines were installed with RedHat Linux with Kernel 2.2.14-5.0
originally. Then I downloaded Kernel 2.2.18 from kernel.org and changed the
/usr/src/linux symbolic link to point to the new 2.2.18 linux directory. I
did copy version*.h from the old 2.2.14-5.0 directory to the 2.2.18 one as
it doesn't have those files. I guess they are probably a RedHat thing. I
don't think those version control header files could cause the problem I'm
having now...

Any other advice?

Oh, I guess I don't need to repeat what many people are saying, but I think
you have a wonderful product here. Do you know if anyone is using it in a
SAN type of environment? Combined with GB Ethernet, it could become an
open-source, more cost-efficient alternative to compete directly with FC or
iSCSI in the market.

Thanks.

Kai
