Hi! Peter...

You are right: it's a device special file...
[root@u575 /dev]# ls -al sdo3
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 227 Apr 16 1999 sdo3
Now it's a partition under /dev/sdo, which is a logical volume on my fibre
channel box. /dev/sdo3 is about 8GB. So how do I export it properly?

I suppose merging requests (so merge_requests=0 turns it off I guess) is the
default then. Why don't you think it work for me, or why did it create the
dead locks I experienced...? (Sorry if the question seems silly... I guess
I just don't understand the issue here well enough yet.)
Many thanks.
